Has your computer reached the end of its useful life on Windows? Then why not recycle it into a Cloud PC?
Please check out the recycling solutions below once youve changed your computer BIOS settings.
First set your computer BIOS to boot in the right order (from a CD, DVD, or a USB key) depending on which you'll be using. For this you need to enter the computer's BIOS settings screen on start-up. This is before Windows takes over and it requires pressing the correct computer key which may be the delete key, or F2, F5, F12, ..(If you can't find the correct key to press you'll need to check out your user hand book for this).
Once you're at the BIOS settings, go to the boot order screen and set it to boot first from USB then CD/DVD and leave the hard disk (IDE:0) at the bottom of the list. It's also preferable to use the CMOS settings screen to disable the fast boot up. Then you exit the CMOS screen and reboot by pressing F10 normally before clicking yes to save settings.
Once you've received your Live Cloud Key or have a Linux Live CD/DVD in hand then read further.
The fast track - get yourself a Live Cloud Key
If you can boot from a USB key and your computer has 1 GB of RAM memory or more then we can send you a pre-configured live USB key for $30. In this case please send us a request for a Live Cloud Key along with details of your PC to

Otherwise go for a Live CD/DVD
You can find yourself a Linux Live CD here (see our Service page for the best voted Live-CD's available on the market) or burn one yourself if you know how to or know someone that can do so.
After receiving your CD/DVD
Boot from the live-CD/DVD. Once Linux is up and running set-up your printer using the printer administration menu. Then set-up your Internet connexion and begin using Linux Live.
When running from a live CD/DVD the reponse time is quite a bit slower than when using the hard disk, so you might be advised to install to hard disk later.
With our "Live Cloud Key" on the other hand you won't notice much difference when compared to hard disk operation other than it starts-up quicker in Linux.
In fact for those of us that try to limit our computer use to a minimum, you can probably startup, check your email and shutdown in less time than it takes your Winows machine to finish the start-up process. |
